Gravity Performance Radiator and Fan Shroud - Any Good?
Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good weekend.
I’m in the process of trying to give my mk2 rev3 a new lease of life. The engine is out for a gasket/consumable overhaul, and I’m trying to replace worn out components with new OEM/uprated bits.
At this point in time, I’m looking at rejuvenating the cooling system. When I drained the system, not much coolant came out, and the water that was there was a horrible rusty brown shade… somehow though, the car still ran at perfect operating temperature! Despite this, I don’t want to put everything back together and potentially run it with this nasty old coolant stuck in the pipes, radiator etc. so I’m looking to upgrade.
First off, I’m going to replace all the coolant pipework with samco silicone hoses for extra durability and bling. The bit I’m less certain on is the radiator. I haven’t pulled apart the front bumper yet to see the condition of the rad, but even if it is in okay shape I’m not sure how much of a hassle it would be to flush the old crap out and get fresh stuff in.
I’ve seen this gravity performance black aluminium radiator and fan/shroud for sale (linked below), and I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with this radiator or the company? Seems like good value and may be an upgrade on OEM (not necessary if it’s functioning properly, I know, but hey ho!) due to the thicker core, but if it’s rubbish quality or worse than OEM I won’t bother. It is also listed as applicable for turbo models, so would it fit with the shroud and fans on an N/A UK spec car?
If anyone could provide any insight or information I would be very grateful.
Cheers all,
Ned
Edit - some numpty forgot to attach the links, whoops! Here they are now, anyway.
