Has my fuel pump gone?

Evening all.
I have a 1997 n/a uk spec mk2 mr2 which I've owned for 10 years.
So basically the car had sat a little while but I've recently upgraded a lot and now want to enjoy it again .
I noticed firstly when starting the car I'd have to keep my foot on the throttle slightly to keep the car for dying , then after a few minutes after this the car would run fine.( it never did this before sitting )
I have went to start the car today and it done the usual hold the throttle down for a bit , but this time I didnt hold it long enough and she died , when I went to try again it just keeps turning and it wont even get to the stage of having to keep my foot on the throttle to keep her running.
So basically I'm looking for a little advice in what steps I could take to find the problem .
Also I'm not sure wether I can hear the pump prime as it where .
I can hear something after attempting to try and start her . I have a video but I'm having trouble uploading on here =(
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tia.
