How to identify remote locking

Hi all,

Per title really. What's the best way to identify if your car came with the factory fitted remote locking? (TVSS-IIIB)

Based on those dates UK Rev 4s and 5s will have it (the latter definitely does: I have one).
Rev3s maybe, maybe not (I've never owned one, only JDM turbos).

What does your remote fob look like?

Well that's the thing, I've read that it's possible for the rev 4's and 5's to have it but I've only ever had a standard no button key (immobiliser chip in key). That's why I want to find a definite way of confirming. I'm wondering if it was a possible optional extra. The Toyota dealer weren't able to help either, unfortunately.

I don't think they came with buttons on the key, it's a separate fob AFAIK TLF may be able to confirm this ?

Correct. There is a pic of the fob in your second link.

Here is one of the complete set. OEM master keys and fobs (black). The other one (grey) is the valet (aka sub) key.
It's rare to find the latter: they often get lost or discarded.
If you use a master key to lock the boot (turn it to the left) the valet key won't unlock it.
As mentioned in the first link, nor can you use the valet key when pairing additional/replacement transponder keys.

Regarding the valet key, the MK1 is the same in that it won't open the boot or the glove box if locked with a master key.
