LSD or Not

Hi,

Can anyone help with a query about a mk3.

I put a deposit down on one yesterday and I now think its a grey import.
The car doesn't have a roadster badge and has a single DIN stereo.

This doesn't bother me that much but I want to ensure it has a LSD.

The reg is X395 JFP. Date of first reg is same as Date of first reg in UK on V5.

VIN is JTDFR320100022510.

Model is Zzw30r akmqhw

On the VIN plate there is a B in bottom right which I have been told might indicate it has a LSD.

There is no sticker on door which I understand would identify if it has a LSD or not.

Apart from doing a driving test anyway I can tell if it has a LSD ?

Thanks in advance

It's definitely a UK car according to Mr T, built January 2000, metallic silver.

It's a MK3 ;)
I'm pretty sure all UK MK3's had LSD's fitted as standard.

Thats what I have always believed, that all UK mk3s have an lsd.

If it has a built in rear fog light then that would confirm its a UK car?

The VIN identifies it as RHD for the European market, so it pretty much has to be a UK car (or possibly Ireland/Cyprus/Malta) definitely not JDM.

Personally wouldn't worry about an MR2 with LSD or not its just something more likely to go wrong than a Standard diff.

The OEM helical LSD in a Mk3 is not known to be problematic at all.

The test for an LSD in my Westfield days was :- jack up the rear of the car. Turn one wheel by hand, if the other wheel rotates in the other direction, then it is NOT an LSD. If the other wheel rotates in the same direction, then the car HAS an LSD. This applied to both plate type lsd's and hydraulic lsd's as those from a Sierra. Unfortunately we need someone who knows if this applies to MR2 Mk3 diffs. Ok so that is is useless information. Leaves the room blushing.
