Quicker steering ratio?

Good Evening,
The next phase of upgrades for my MK2 involves refreshing the steering, and I'd like to do a bit more than just replace worn parts. To me, the steering ratio on the MK2 is very high, like bringing a medieval Galleon into port, and I would love to speed it up a bit. I've done a lot of research across various MK2 forums and it looks like there are 2 options;
1) I saw a group buy for a faster ratio pinion for the RHD power-assisted rack around 7-8 years ago. Perhaps I could find an owner willing to sell one of these pinions and fit this to my rack. Maybe the original supplier would be interested in supplying another group buy.
2) I would really love to have a manual rack in my 2 as it fits my driving style and idea of what I'd like the car to behave like, however I understand the ratio on the Rev 1 manual rack is even higher! I haven't seen any concrete evidence of a faster ratio manual rack being done anywhere at all worldwide (please prove me wrong
)
Really I've hit a dead end in my research and would appreciate any advice on making either option 1 or 2 a reality. Thanks in advance
