Rear track rods, correct alignment?

Ok this may be a silly question but hey. I replaced the rear track arms yesterday and assumed they came pre-set, and on driving to work very quickly found out that they aren't! The back end was swinging all over the place and driving in a straight line was a challenge, felt like driving on ice. So at lunch I took it to a kwik fit next to where I work and they adjusted the rear tracking, so say. It feels a lot better than it did straight after I changed the rods, but corners still feel very strange. It's as if after going round the corner and straightening up the back end still moves out very slightly. I'm not convinced they set it up right so I'm going back tomorow.

But I want to know if there is a certain degree of toe-in/out for the mk1 or anything different to 'standard' as for all I know it's been set up for a regular front wheel drive. I had a look at the guide on Know your 2 to check it but I don't have any of the equipment and I can't see any set values that I can take to kwik fit and say 'set it to this please!' I'd like to get it sorted asap because just by the feel of how it's handling I'm sure it's going to destroy my rear tyres pretty quick. I have 15inch alloys.
Oh and I also read that after fitting you should be able to rotate the whole arm 10degree or more, when I grip the arms on mine they don't move at all... hmmm

Any help/info much appreciated!
