The middle one in the bottom row was taken in the car park of the Torridon Hotel.emrrtwo wrote:noticed Supercar driver are currently doing a similar route to what you just did, below is a link to some pics which am sure will recognise some of the locations!

He lives in Shieldaig. We drove past the end of his drive after lunch at Applecross.

There was a mention of doing 5 days next year including a tour of Mull.toymr2 wrote:Any special requests for next year
Here's some ideas to get the ball rolling.
Day 1 - https://goo.gl/maps/2ijAy4XFsRp - have assumed an overnight stop in/around Oban.
Day 2 - https://goo.gl/maps/CJ6zoDSGQWM2 - late lunch at Applecross (or early start)?
Day 3 - https://goo.gl/maps/4E1E7RfHotE2
Day 4 - https://goo.gl/maps/e6TwCn8gbe52
Day 5 - https://goo.gl/maps/jVALeHYtXcC2
Days 3 & 4 can be switched if desired.

Re: Highdrive 2017 chat
Here's a mad suggestion
If we go on to Mull how about not returning to Oban but get the short crossing ferry to Lochaline and go to Mallaig for the night and get the first ferry to Skye in the morning.

Re: Highdrive 2017 chat
Actually from a route PoV I don't think it's mad at all, but it does make Day 1 rather long time-wise.
We wouldn't get to wherever we are staying until quite late in the day. Revised itinerary:
Day 1 - https://goo.gl/maps/xq7JWwPqVYq
Day 2 - https://goo.gl/maps/B3W7J8d1Vhx
Day 3 - https://goo.gl/maps/e6TwCn8gbe52
Day 4 - https://goo.gl/maps/DxmZj3i6Zrj
Day 5 - https://goo.gl/maps/jVALeHYtXcC2
However the issue is going to be accommodation because Mallaig is tiny compared with Oban (800 v 8000 people). Not only that, Easter 2017 is slap bang in the middle of April and it appears that a lot of people are taking the following week off. Indeed AFAICS rooms and prices are now at a premium anywhere close to Mull (and Skye).
I'm beginning to think that Mull might be a bridge ferry too far for next year.
Whereas we have done Skye from our base in Ullapool more than once before.

Re: Highdrive 2017 chat
I noticed it the first time I came up for the HD in 2009. On subsequent ones it has been a reminder that there is no much further to go. I hope it is back again in 2017. The location is here about a mile north of the junction with the A832.

Re: Highland Drive 2017 chat
What tyres do people usually use for the trip?
Does anyone do it on winter tyres?
I use my current Yokohama AD08Rs (previously bridgestones) all year round so have never used winter tyres before but just wondered what others do?
