Post by Journeyman »

Hi
Does anyone else know if u can buy lower rear quarter panels, it is the part that is hidden by the bumper, mine are a bit rotten,

Or would this be a fabrication job
Thanks for any advice

You can’t buy replacement panels brand new but if you are lucky you might find some one willing to do a body cut. Otherwise its a fabrication job. Not too difficult I did mine and a few people have posted their results on here too. Have a look around

I’ve not tackled this myself but I’ve spoken to some companies that will as most SW20s seem to need it now. Doesn’t appear to be a terrible job. Where are you based? Be worth checking if there are any companies nearby with a good reputation.

Thanks for the reply my car is located in South Cumbria, it has had new sills put on and picture attached is the rear lower quarter, this is the worst bit, I have all new parts for it exhaust and suspension and disks and pads,

The garage are looking at it now and saying it would be worth saving

I am considering it today

Thanks for the replies , I have been to see the garage and they have said they can repair it all, and it is worth doing, the new sills are on and 2 small holes in the floor. So not too bad for a 30 year old car, will update on the work being done hopefully back o the road in a couple of months
Thanks for the advice

My old stomping ground. Not been back in ages though.. What was the damage? You’re right to save it. Not enough left now to squander them over minor rust issues!

Damage do you mean price? Or the rust,
Paid 500 for the car was MOTd about 12 years ago, been in the garage for 10 years , I posted on here when I first took it out of the garage about 2 years ago. I will find the link

Mates at garage are charging about 700 to 900 for both sills and bit on the floor and the fabrication of lower quarters and inner wings.

Have many new parts for it. Exhaust, disks pads springs , drop links etc

Thanks for the link. I replied on that thread - definitely worth saving.

By damage I meant how much did it cost. Just curious really - but I’d have been happy to pay what you have to save it.

Have fun!
