Radio fitting issues
For the aerial to go up & down, if you don't have a specific ANT wire, you can join the REM wire from your head unit to the pink/blue and red/black wires at the top of your plug.

Re: Radio fitting issues
How you've done it obviously works but the aerial will possibly go up/down with the ignition whether the head unit is on or off.

Ok and how do I find which wire is the REM (remote) wire? And what should I do to get rid of the annoying buzz noise?

Re: Radio fitting issues
I thought I had wired it to ignition live but I actually haven't which is good. Aerial works if I put radio on if its off aerial is down. Only issue the buzzing from speakers

The REM wire is the Blue or Blue/White wire from your head unit.
Buzzing: Have you checked the adapter plug wiring as previously advised.
green with silver dots (center of plug) LINKS THE EARTH ON SPEAKERS
brown with silver dots (thicker wire) EARTH
Borrowed this from another thread. Shows the shared black earth wire from the RCAs that needs to meet up with the green with silver dot wire. If not that is likely to be the cause of buzzing.

Re: Radio fitting issues
Is the buzzing coming from all speakers or just one? As Stu said, check your connections. Buzzing is usually caused by a bad ground. If it's coming from all speakers then it's probably stereo side, if it's coming from the specific speaker then it's probably the ground for the amp for that speaker (this is the active system, isn't it?).

Re: Radio fitting issues
It's coming from all the speakers. I'll have to try that stu. It's an active system yes.
So I have to get the earth from the stereo side or the car side? Could I just earth it separately onto the body of the car?

Re: Radio fitting issues
If you look at the photo I just posted you have a main black earth wire coming from the head unit that needs to feed through to the brown/silver dot loom earth wire and maybe also the car body for extra earthing.
The 4 RCAs at the bottom of the plug also share another earth (black wire) which has to feed through to the green/silver dot wire on the loom.

Re: Radio fitting issues
Looking at my plug the earth from the speakers is linked to a green with silver dots is this how it should be? There's 2 wires which are green with silver dots too

Re: Radio fitting issues
Fairly sure it's the green/silver dot wire in the middle of the plug. Sounds like it's ok on yours.
Think about additional earths for the head unit (head unit/bracket direct to car body). It is supposed to earth through the aerial but yours might not be sufficient.

Re: Radio fitting issues
There's a bare metal brace with a couple of bolts already on it near the glovebox (supports the dash, I assume?) which makes a good ground, easy to access and keeps the cable run nice and short.stuMR2eye wrote: Think about additional earths for the head unit (head unit/bracket direct to car body). Re: Radio fitting issues
So do I just have to get a piece of wire join it to the earth for the speakers on the car loom side and bolt it on to a good earth point?

Re: Radio fitting issues
No. We are talking about the earth for the head unit. Directly earthing the head unit to the car body with an additional wire. Can't have too many earths
The shared speaker earth from the pictures previously posted is joined to the green/silver dot wire in the loom. I thought you'd confirmed that was all wired up ok.
