If the weather is lovely that morning, I know a few backroad routes from Marks Tey to Maldon if you fancy doing a mini run beforehand for the local lot. Nothing silly, just a nice route that avoids the main roads.

Hmmm. Marks Tey is quite a long way beyond Maldon for those of us coming from south of the river.

I'd be up for a run beforehand however depends on what time we will be meeting. I'll be getting up early enough as it is to head over to Essex and need my sleep! lol

If you can make a dawn Kent Run, this should be a breeze.
Although given your list of excuses this year I'm beginning to wonder...

Time wise probably best to factor in breakfast at the venue say for 8.00am or 8.30am.

Work backwards from there to the meet point for those coming via South Essex for a start time.

North Essex peeps can meet at Marks Tey.

It was only intended to be a nicer route to Maldon. Any meeting point with people arriving from the south would need to be near enough in Maldon anyway.

My route gets to the MoP from the opposite direction.

Of which those who attended Japfest 2012 will probably have painful memories. The marshalling was such a shambles that I gave serious consideration to not going in future.

but I'm puzzled where they park them all. Looking at the site on Google Earth there doesn't seem to be sufficient free space for the 200 exhibitors Stu mentioned earlier. If it is at a premium then stewards need to be up to speed. If not, it could go south pretty fast.

Haha I have no doubt I can make it, I just prefer staying in bed longer if possible. Well they seem to be getting more elaborate as the year wears on

I like to think of it more as my inner child than chav, I've kinda gone for a generic Le Mans, Toyota hybrid racing kinda look but not going to be sure till its all done. Still waiting on some more vital stickers to arrive

7.30 at Tesco Maldon sounds good to me. That way we can all go in as one group, hopefully making it easier for Marshals etc and more importantly leaves good time for breakfast

There's plenty of room Tony - the location marker on Google Maps is only a small part of it. I believe they use the grass areas around the access roads to the west of the Blackwater. I don't know if they also own the large grass field that borders the Chelmer as well.
