Great day out - thanks to Gareth and Tony for organising their respective bits of the day. :clapping:

Pity a dozy Prius ran into the rear passenger quarter of my car on the way home. :crybaby:

Noone hurt and not massive damage, but the muppet is claiming all kinds of odd things to avoid the fact he was in a left turn only lane and tried to turn right directly through my car.

Glad it wasn't the tubby though :th:

Really enjoyed the day yesterday guys so thanks to everyone who made it happen. Nice to meet new people and it's nice to see people are still patient with me while I try to learn a bit.

I do hope everyone got home alright I did see a red mk2 on the hardshoulder but as I was doing 70 ;) in the fast lane I only saw you as I passed you, I did however pull behind a lorry and poodled at 45-50 to see if you was alright but you came off the motorway. Also I hope Gareth made it back I'll charge you for the girlfriends labor later ;)

No way that's awful - I do hope your insurance company will be taking him to the cleaners !

I also hope Gareth got him with a charged battery :)

We stopped for a coffee at the pub then went back using most of the outward route.
He was still going fine when we parted company on reaching the M25.

Man, that sucks!
Kamikaze Volvoman was bad enough but being attacked by a Prius ffs...
Hopefully it will get sorted as a non-fault. Any witnesses?

It made it! Repairing it is going to be fun, will need to drill out the remains of the bolt in the alternator casing though.

Noone else stopped and the only other witness was his wife in his passenger seat.

The location of the damage should work somewhat in your favour as it's the rear quarter that's been hit. Will be worth going on Google Maps, getting a satellite image of where it happened and draw a diagram over the top with the paths of your cars while it's all fresh!

Oh dear. No doubt she will support whatever crazy story he comes up with to explain the collision, swearing on a stack of bibles that you cut him up so it was all your fault...

Agreed, but see above.
Man+wife+Prius=a lethal combination...

Usually the lies come unstuck pretty easily on the small details. Hopefully that's the case here!

Hopefully. I've already written up my account of it all, drawn a diagram over a google maps satellite image and screenshot the signage from streetview. Just waiting on insurance to call me.

The location of the damage means it's obvious he should have seen my car and my indicator and taken avoiding action. It should be a slam dunk, but the guy was adamant he was in the correct lane (despite not really knowing which lane he was in). I don't think he's consciously lying; he genuinely didn't seem to know what had happened other than it couldn't possibly be his fault.

I like the idea... but I still need the cost of the repair to be below a certain percentage of what they value the car at.
