Location of power steering sensors for MK2
Early 2021 my Power Steering went on my MK2 1999 import, at great cost the whole power steering system was replaced, with one part being obtained second-hand from Poland.
All was fine until one day in July I needed to get somewhere, when the PS sign came up on the dash and steering was heavy. So didn't drive, as was told not to, as that what burnt out other components the first time it went.
A couple of days later I tried the car and it was fine and has been ever since until yesterday
Friday 28 Jan. PS light came up on dash and steering was heavy. So used my husbands car.
Tried the car again today same thing, with my husbands help we checked parts out they all work, when I started the car up it was fine but then it wasn't and keeps being intermittent as steering heaving, then light as it should. PS sign comes up then doesn't, then does. So wonder if there is a lose wire on steering sensor.
If anyone knows where that is located, please let me know.
Many thanks
Wendy

Found the answer, although I think I asked the wrong question, but knew it was an electrical issue.
I needed to reset the power steering assist, by turning on and off just the ignition 20 times. Not engine. It worked. Found on a forum thread dated 2014 on the Ontario MR2 Owners club website.
Guess many of you would have known that.

You didn't have to go all the way to Canada in 2014
Know Your 2 is your friend, a quick search would have found this https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2/mk2 ... e-fix.html
That solution works sometimes, other times not, it's not a reset as such, all your doing is operating the relay many times, probably cleans the contacts.
Either way it worked for you, well done for getting it working

Some do, some don't, it was an option. Easy to tell by looking on the front compartment.
