Valve cover gasket confusion!
Hi all,
As you may have read, I sorted out my valve cover gasket woes over the weekend.
Now my 2 is an import automatic 93 Rev 2.
After a bit of research, I've found that something isnt quite right.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0286443785
That there is the gasket set that I bought
The larger gasket and the smaller bolt gaskets fitted just fine. It was the centre one that didn't.
So why doesn't the top of my head look like this one? I'm massively confused! The top of my head and valve cover had 3 seperate wells for the two middle plug holes and centre bolt hole

Just looked it up, my cylinder head looks like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CARINA ... 1360557850
That states that it came off a Rev 3 engine, but my chassis number is SW200085380 making is a Rev 2.
What the ?!

Re: Valve cover gasket confusion!
My 2 has the same intake as yours and the gasket in the link is the same as what I had.
It just wouldn't fit correctly because the head and cover on mine is the same at the picture I posted above.
Could I possibly have a rev2 engine with a rev3 head?
Mine isn't a turbo by the way.

Re: Valve cover gasket confusion!
If you've the same manifold as above I didn't think the manifold would fit the later head.
Turbo or na the gasket is the same its just camskill only list certain parts for the turbo though fit other models so had to post the turbo link

Looking over the stuff here http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/engine.htm
Turns out that there's actually another completely different gasket set for an import MR2.
Who'd'ave thought it!

Re: Valve cover gasket confusion!
Well, it certainly had me stumped!
Had I of known that earlier then I would have needed to cut down the gasket. Looks like the previous owner didn't know that either as he done more or less the same.
